The power of previous knowledge

As photographers, we are always battling preconceived notions about the way things should look. We see a sunrise and know that the clouds should be pink. We see a field of grass and know that it should be green. We often try to go against our preconceived notion in order to be creative or to try something entirely new. When we do so, it sometimes takes others quite a while to warm up to our new “creation” because they, too, are conditioned to see in a certain way.
