Selective focus images are all the rage now with the Lensbaby products. I’ve been working on a small book submission for 2010 that includes some DIY methods for achieving selective focus in your images. This picture was taken yesterday with a Nikon D700, Nikon 24-120mm lens and a 72mm UV filter coated with a thin layer of Vaseline.

Sometimes, determining the difference between art and “mistake” requires a bit of imagination. What do you think?

I’m doing more photographs today for a book project with Rocky Nook. This time, I’m experimenting with different filter effects in order to simulate the Lens Baby look. This image was created by smearing Vaseline on the front UV filter of my lens. Shot was made with a Nikon D700, 24-120mm lens, Cokin UV filter and Vaseline.

Photography is so much fun!
