Serenity

Posted September 20th, 2011 by   |  Photography, Travel  |  Permalink

This month’s GOAL Assignment is to photograph “serenity”. Here are two shots that remind me of a serene, quiet, calm day. I was in Port Angeles, WA and the fog had just lifted from the water. The fog horn was still sounding when the beautiful Lady Washington ship slowly made her way back into port. There was hardly a breath of air so the water was smooth and flat.

Cold York Maine

Posted February 11th, 2011 by   |  Photography, Travel  |  Permalink

Winter in Maine, USA is cold. Raw. Wicked. The GOAL Assignment for February 2011 was to take photos that capture the defining characteristic of a subject. When I think of winter in Maine, I imagine cold, steel gray skies. Ice and snow on the ground. The landscape devoid of color. Here are some photos that convey my feelings of the defining characteristics of winter in Maine.

Atlantic Ocean on a cold winter day. Nikon D700, 28-75mm f2.8. Converted to B&W with Nik Silver Efex Pro 2 (beta).
